Yalin Billiards

I had the great honor to visit Yalin Billiards factory. It’s the biggest factory of billiard tables in China.
After I met the President we had a great lunch there, played pool and I learned the proper way to drink Chinese tea and of course I visited the factory. Thank you for being such a nice host.

For sure my cameras were with me ;-)

China Open Day 7 and 8 (final day)

Again I slept only some hours on both days….but somehow I got it done.
On day 7 we saw many amazing matches and run outs….Shane ran 4 or 5 racks and Zhang Yulong ran 7 racks against Efren. He did a push for a jump bank shot, Efren gave it back and he made it….amazing.

On day 8 I saw Alison Fisher playing against Chen Siming in the Finals….it was a tight match but @ 7:8 Alison missed a tough long ball she had to jack up and winner cleared the table.

At the men division it was not that tight because Zhang Yulong played like a machine and potted many tough shots and won against Antonio Lining

Sitting now with all the guys in the bar finishing my work….that was Shanghai…next stop Beijing for some days off…..see you on one of the next venues….

Follow the links to Gallery of day 7 and 8.

China Open Day 6

After some hours of sleep it took me 6 hours to upload 15mb of pictures. So I am sitting now in the

Minya hotel and develop the pics…..uploading them should be much faster here…..
Went today to the tournament at about 6pm….again a lot of nice matches here.
Sadly Jasmin lost against Fu Xia-Fang…was an exciting match….
By the way….one of the biggest opponents was the carpet….check out the pics….

China Open Day 5 (start of the tournament)

There is no Day4 because of a big holiday here…

What a long day today…..its after 8 in the morning and I finaly finished with the pictures.
I went at about 11:30 to the tournament area to pick up my press pass. Sadly the did not find it but with a helpfull chinese girl I got thru everything and got it at the end.
Also I had to wear this funny yellow jacket (it says elephant king….whatever that means ;-))….Little strange from my point of view because photographers should wear more dark stuff to do not disturb the players when moving….
After a nice opening ceremony the tournament started. (Get ready for a many many pics today)
There was a lot of light in the big hall but because of the light came only from big lamps on the ceiling the faces of the players were very dark and I had a hard time to find the right settings for the pictures……still not that happy with it.
At the TV tables and at the practice area are the lighting conditions much better.
After a while I was getting hungry and Niels gave me a hint about a super market across the street.
It is super close to the area and you get all the healthy food there…..got some realy nice apples ;-)
I can’t give you details about all the matches because I am focused on my photo stuff. But this two links will show you the results:

BTW thanks to top147.com for inviting me to this great event.

A online stream should be here:

I just can tell you that I saw some realy great shots when I was moving thru the area.
After the tournament I went with Sarah, Brtiney, Kelly, Gerda, Penny, Joanne and Corey for dinner and after chatting with Britney, Ruslan and Tony I went back to my hotel @ about 2am…

China Open Day 3 (end of qualifier and Playersmeeting)

On day 3 I slept a bit longer and came just to the end of the qualifiers. After it finished we went to the Minya Hotel for the players meeting (I didn’t know that so I hadn’t my flash with me and had to shoot with my build in flash….sorry for the poor fash pics). Finaly many more faces I know ;-) We had a good dinner and some Austrian music (enjoyed it with Gerda and Jasmin ;-))
Then everybody was waiting for the draw. At the end of the day I was hanging out with some guys in the lobby….enjoyed it a lot and hope we will redo it soon ;-)

China Open Day 2

After some hours of sleep I missed the breakfast and walked into the city to get some impressions of Shanghai. 1,5 hours later I was compleatly wet and tried to find a taxi to the tournament area.
I think the 5th one knew where I wanted to go, but brought me one block away….
After some photos I got a delicous lunch and met a guy who spoke perfectly german. I got the adress for the women qualifiers from him (thanks again) and so I was watching out for the next taxi….this time it was pretty easy to get there. The club there was as beautiful as the other one.
And I saw there also some very good matches….about two hours later I went back to the other place (a Chinese player invited me to share the cab with him…thanks a lot) to shoot more pics.
About 500 photos later and after saying hi to Tony (smiling like always) I went exhousted back to the hotel.

China Open Day 1 (Arrival and qualifiers)

Today I arrived after a long trip Shanghai. Delay from Vienna and from Istambul. In the second plane it was tough to find a empty space for my gear….sitting then and waiting for take off, I captured a funny thing on the screen (Passanger pain progress ;-))

Finally arrived in Shanghai then….
A long cue in front of the imigration office but it took me only 15 mins thru that one ;-)
Finally @ the baggage claim and one of the first suitcases was mine.
So now I had just to go outside and find Neil…..oh man a lot of people were standing there with sheets in their hands.
Slowly went thru them and tried to find mine…..Just after 2 mins somebody was saying my name….and there he was (thanks for picking me up).
We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel….a traffic jam later we arrived there.
Jumping up to the room changing cloth and getting my gear ready…..on the way to the qualifiers.
Another traffic jam later we arrived there….a nice big area filled with a lot of tables and a lot of good players.
I saw some nice matches and shot some pics.

This months topic is what’s in your case.
Instead of shooting pictures of my equipment we did a video.
