Ultra Large Format Wet Plate in a Tree – The Cherry Blossom Macro (Or how I nearly crashed my camera)

Nachdem mir das Schneeglöckchen Shooting (Link zum Projekt: https://blog.markus-hofstaetter.at/2018/03/i-used-two-cameras-for-this-macro-shot/) so viel Spaß gemacht hat, wollte ich wieder etwas ähnliches machen.
Als ich gesehen habe, dass mein Kirschbaum zu blühen begann, war sofort klar, dass ich diesmal eine Kirschblüte auf einer Platte ablichten werde – und zwar eine Blüte am Baum. Auf diesen Baum bin ich schon in meiner Kindheit herumgeklettert. Leider haben die letzten Unwetter sehr an ihn gezehrt.
 

 
Damit sich die Blüte nicht zu sehr bewegt, habe ich sie auf Lampenstativ befestigt:
 

 
Da der Wind aber immer noch für zu viel Bewegung gesorgt hat, habe ich das Objektiv auf Blende 12 abgeblendet und mit einem 1000 Watt Blitz die Scene eingefrohren.
 

 
Mit meinen Berlebach Stativ konnte ich meine Kamera auf über 2 Meter Höhe platzieren. Zwei Mal wäre mir die Kamera fast weggeknickt, da ich beim Aufbau zu unachtsam war. Nachdem ich das Gegengewicht montiert und die Beine des Stativs abgesichert habe, zeigte sich wiedermal die gute Qualität des Stativs. Unglaublich wie gut es bei dieser extremen Stellung noch gehalten hat. Because the snowdrop shooting (https://blog.markus-hofstaetter.at/2018/03/i-used-two-cameras-for-this-macro-shot/) was so much fun, I wanted to do something like that again. After I saw the cherry blossoms on my tree, it was crystal clear what comes up next. I wanna shoot one of these with my wet plate camera, but this time I will shoot them on the tree. When I was little, this tree was my climbing adventure. This tree has seen better days – the weather from the recent years started to ruin some parts of it. But it is still beautiful in springtime.
 

 
To make the blossom more steady, I clamped it onto a light stand:
 

 
Because the wind still moved it too much, I stopped the camera down to F 12 and used a 1000W strobe pretty close to the blossom.
 

 
I could reach my camera into the tree with my maxed out Berlebach tripod (above 2 Meters). I thought I need an extra table underneath the tripod to reach that high. Because I took too less care about securing my tripod, it nearly fell down two times. But with securing the legs and a counterweight, the Berlebach tripod showed that it is built like a tank and so it held my Ultra Large Format camera in this extreme position.
