European Pool Championships 2011 Day 9 and 10 …. Trophys Trophys Trophys

Sorry for the late post….but after a lot of finals, players-party and banquet it was to late to work on the photos.

My girl won in 10 ball against Jasmin Michel but lost against Melissa Rademakers and finished 17th

At 10 Ball we saw the shot of the tournament from Ralf Souquet. At hill hill against Mario He he called the 9 ball over three cushions into the side and won this match with that crazy shot. Thanks to Bulle Benson for capturing and uploading that shot:

(Visit his Website for more interesting videos: http://www.bulle-benson.de/)

The players-party was awesome…..we had so much fun there. And that was the reason that we had a hard time getting up next day ;-)
At the next day Anna Majrina (also Pyramid champion) played against Jasmin Ouschan (10 Ball).
This could have been a super tight match. Anna played very strong and with strong nerves. She started to run the first rack, but shot the 9 before the 8.
It ended up 6:4 for Jasmin, but could have been different if Anna would not make this mistake in the first rack.

I was watching the Men 10 ball finals (Stephan Cohen and Radoslaw Babica)…Somehow a bit funny because Stephan was behind the camera at the 9 Ball Finals.
Both players played a great match but at this last moments at the tournament both of them where exhausted I guess but kept on fighting.
Stephan won at the end and I got this nice pic of him:

My deepest respect to all the wheelchair players. Its amazing how strong you guys play with that difficult angle of view.
I never tried to play in a wheelchair but I talked to some players who did that and they told me how tough this is.

After the last finals I was kind of relieved….it was so much fun all week long but also very stressful….just little sleep every night to get the pictures online and carrying around my gear all day long is a tough job. But when I look at the photos after that, I am happy I did.

It was again an awesome event with super nice people. We had so much fun with you guys and so it was kind of tough again to say goodbye after the banquet. But as everybody knows, after the EC is before the EC and we will see you guys again next year. Thanks to everybody to make this awesome event what it is!

European Pool Championships 2011 Day 8 …. Nick did it again

9 Ball quarter, semis and finals (only men) today.
The finals were broadcasted live by Eurosports (and another TV station) in 57 countries around the world.
A super atmosphere here in Stahlpalast in Brandenburg. The audience went nuts during a lot of exciting matches.
And Marco Takis did a great job with his commentary.

The women and wheelchair finals will be on Friday.
And so we will see then Gerda Hofstätter against Jasmin Ouschan and Jouni Tahti(again) against Henrik Larsson.

During the men semi finals we saw a dominating Nick van den Berg over Huidji See and a thrilling match between Mario He and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz.
During the finals El Nino continued his strong game against a sometimes risky playing “Super Mario” and jumped into a 11:3 win.

Congratulation to all players!!!

European Pool Championships 2011 Day 5 (8 Ball Finals)

Marketa won against Louise Furberg….Her next match is tomorrow at 9:00 and this is why we have to get up at 7:30 :-( (its 4:00 and I am still sitting here to update the blog)
Please cross the fingers for our game tomorrow.

I totally forgot yesterday that Petra Stadlbauer of Austria is also in the quarter finals (with Jasmin and Albin)
Jasmin and Albin lost and Petra won her match but lost in the semis against Kynthia Orfanidis.
Congrats to Petra for the third, Albin and Jasmin for the fifth place!

Finals:

Wheelchair:
Jouni Tahti won against Kurt Deklerck 5:1

Women:
Kynthia Orfanidis won in a long match against Marika Poikkijoki 6:4

Men:
Dominic Jentsch played like a machine and won against Ralf Souquet 8:1
At this point I have to say that Ralph was fighting as hard as possible one match before against Carlos Cabello.
He was behind and came back while he had to work hard thru very difficult racks. My deepest respect for that.
I love your game and it is very motivating to watch it. If there would be a price for the toughest match……you would deserve it.

Congratulation to all players!!!!

European Pool Championships 2011 Day 3…..what a day….

Its about 5 in the morning right now and finally I finished everything.
Today I tried to pick up my girlfriend from Brno to go to the EC. At my first stop at a gas station i figured out that both of my tires in the back are missing a lot of air. In one of them I saw a screw sticking out.
So I went to the nearest tire shop, so they can have a look at it. A lot of car mechanics there…..but nobody had time (that was what they said….looked like they rather go for lunch then to fix my car).
Anyway, I was lucky to call the guys from Fleischman Reifen in Klosterneuburg (www.fleischmann-reifen.at). They promised me to fix my tires as soon as possible….30 mins later I arrived there and another 45mins later they fixed both tires and I was on my way to Brno (Thanks everybody there for the great work). I had a Screw and a nail in each of them…..maybe bad luck or somebody does not like me (wondering about that because I am very rarely at home and when I am mostly sleeping)
I arrived very late in Brno and my navigation system said we will arrive at 8:30pm in Brandenburg.
The bad thing was that my girl already missed one game because of a business trip (Marketa traveled the whole week….) and the next mach was @ 7:30pm.
The only thing I can say is: We made it somehow.

The EC:

My girl immediately started to play and I started to shoot pictures.
It was so nice to see all my friends again…..a lot of people just came to me and said hi….thanks for that!!
My girl won her match against Anna Grintsuk 6:4 and went to the hotel then to get some rest.
I stayed there until the finals.
Tomasz Kaplan won against Fabio Petroni in the finals …. Fabio did not had much opportunities to come to the table.
Jasmin Ouschan won against Line Kjorsvik and is again Europen staight pool champion.

Congratulations to all of the players!!!

Preperation for the European Pool Championships 2011 in Brandenburg

A lot of cables, chargers, lenses, cleaning tools, card readers, hard discs, laptops and I don’t know how much other stuff is laying in front of me and that means another event is coming up. The flashing lights of all the different chargers are reminding me of Christmas and mostly that’s the feeling I have…

Dream of my home village

Finally my girlfriend and me had time to do a walk on a beautiful day thru my home village.
I wanted to shoot some pictures and get some different views …. just doing something new.
So I set myself some limits…. I took the 50mm lens and tried to shoot everything with 1.4 (I think there is only one picture with 2.8). One of my favorites is the field that looks like the sea and the swan (was kind of tough to get his head sharp with 1.4) enjoy the pictures.
